Walking our Pembrokeshire paths

It is good to share some of the events and interesting encounters of walking our Pembrokeshire paths as I tread up and down our tracks.  The best way to see our country I believe is on foot, to leave the car and step out and discover our county.  Our network of paths extend across all parts of our county and deep into the heart of secluded countryside, only accessible by foot.

On foot you are presented with the time and inclination to stare and ponder and to take note. You start to really see what makes up our county, the cutting away of a cliff top, the soaring and waiting to pounce of the bird who stalks  his prey.

Away from the roads and spluttering of fumes you take in a fresher breath of air and the senses are treated by bluebell, wild garlic and hay.  The further inland you withdraw the sounds gradually reform and refine.  The whine and splutter of our motors ebb away and the industrial and mechanised hum eases.

Much of this noise is not replaced but we are left with an ever increasing quietness, sometimes a silence invites us in.  Then we hear the babble of the brook, the sweetness of the bird in song and that’s music to our ears of a kind which calms and offers hope to our restless souls.  Long  live our adventures into the heart of our land and the retreat away from it all that makes us at dis-ease.
